a special PTA event! the Cultural Arts Committee Presents Richard Aldorasi & the lost art of Ebru. Perfect gift for Mother’s Day- an Ebru scarf. This event is unique & there is a fee of 35.00 to participate. The cost is to pay for the Habotai Silk Scarf (15×72) that the student designs are placed on. Each student that pays to participate will get 1 scarf. In order to accomodate the artistry, the event will begin at 6pm. Please rsvp on the flyer that comes home this week. ]]> http://palmyrapta.org/?feed=rss2&p=29 0 Read Across America Read-a-thon is Underway! http://palmyrapta.org/?p=66 http://palmyrapta.org/?p=66#comments Mon, 06 Feb 2012 22:45:19 +0000 secretary http://palmyrapta.org/?p=66 The teachers and education support professionals of the Palmyra Education Association appreciate what parents and community members are doing to celebrate the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America to encourage children to pick up a book and read.  The Palmyra PTA is again sponsoring an author/illustrator to share the joy of creating a book with our students!  This year’s guest is Lee Harper, famous for books like: “Woolbur” and “Snow! Snow! Snow!”

Our school has already started their annual Read a Thon- marking the minutes they are reading for enjoyment & logging them in competition.  Meeting or EXCEEDING read across america Our participation goal will be rewarded this year with a special obstacle course race with our Not-so-Tiny Superintendent & School Board President.  This should prove to be a real comedy moment!

2012 marks the fourteenth annual celebration of reading and Dr. Seuss’s birthday!  As we gear up for NEA’s Read Across America Day, we ask fellow community members to put aside the many hats they wear for work and play and don the ultimate reading hat, the red and white striped stovepipe made famous by the Cat in the Hat, on March 2.

Be a part of this flurry (or furry) of reading excitement!  Get involved in supporting children’s literacy in our community- volunteer to read if you can.  Most importantly for parents, make the time for our reading train throughout the school on March 2nd.
